Greetings Blumfield Families,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Peyton Lewis and I am excited to have been named the next principal at Blumfield Elementary. I live 17 miles west of Ralston in the small community of Yutan. My wife, Amy, and I have four children (Hayden 12, Tyson 9, Jade 8, and Jaxon 10 months) and we are a very active family. For the past two years I have been employed by Johnson-Brock Public Schools as their PK-12 Principal. During my time at Johnson-Brock, I was able to sustain several successful academic programs while implementing some exciting new initiatives to improve student learning and increase student engagement. While at Johnson-Brock, I wore many hats and had a continually changing list of duties. I have driven van routes, shoveled snow, announced football games, organized town hall meetings, painted backdrops for play productions, served lunch, substituted in classrooms, and countless other tasks to make our a school operate at a high level. I enjoyed all of my “extra” duties and I understand the importance of teamwork when it comes to providing educational opportunities for all students.
Prior to becoming a principal I taught elementary art for 9 years at Gretna Public Schools. I enjoy working with elementary students during their formative years and witnessing the sense of pride and accomplishment when a student learns something new or accomplishes a challenging task. I cherish the opportunity to support our teachers at Blumfield in their quest to educate every student. I can’t imagine a more important job than that of an elementary teacher.
As an elementary school we have a tremendous responsibility to provide each student with a foundation of learning that will set them up for success in the future. It takes a team of dedicated adults to educate a child and as a parent you are an integral part of our team at Blumfield. I encourage input and feedback from parents regarding your child’s education. Information from all of you will be critical in ensuring we realize our goal of engaging, educating, and empowering all students. My door is always open if you ever want to visit and discuss your child’s education. I look forward to meeting all you over the next several months.
I am fortunate to be following Mrs. Gomez as the next principal of Blumfield Elementary. I look forward to collaborating with her to ensure the sustainability of her efforts as well as paving the path for a smooth transition for students, teachers, and families. Blumfield Elementary has a lot to be proud of and I am honored to be a member of the Blumfield Team. I want to thank all of you in advance for welcoming me to Blumfield Elementary!
