Classroom Policies/Procedures

Homework Policy:

Students are given class time to work on all assignments.  If an assignment is not completed in class I expect it done the following day.  Please check your child’s assignment notebook every day for specific assignments and due dates.

Classroom Expectations:

We will be safe, respectful &
 Responsible

In fourth grade we have a driver’s education behavior program.  This classroom management system is based on rewarding students for their positive behaviors.  Fourth grade students will have a license, which allows them special privileges in the classroom.  Students will fill out ‘tickets’ for negative behaviors and thus will not receive a sticker on their license.  Once a student receives the needed stickers on their license they will move up the driving program.  I will explain this process in more detail to the class when they arrive; feel free to ask them or myself questions if you have any.

I also follow the building wide positive behavior support system in my classroom.  I will hand out tokens for students who show appropriate behaviors; they can then use these tokens in the school store each week.  I will hand out blue slips, which will be drawn out of a bucket at the monthly assemblies.  I will also hand out certificates for students who show above and beyond positive behaviors.  When a student has earned 4 certificates they will be able to attend the Family Fun Center celebration.

I will also be using the Boy’s Town method for classroom management.  Boy’s Town teaches basic social skills reinforced in a positive way.  These skills include getting the teacher’s attention, accepting no for an answer, working in a group, and many more.  To find out more information about this program you can visit www.boystown.org.
